The Fisher House Foundation’s Heroes’ Legacy Scholarships honor the memory and sacrifice of U.S. service members who have died or become disabled during active duty since September 11, 2001. The scholarships are merit-based and intended for the unmarried dependent children (under age 23) of eligible service members.

Eligibility

  • Be the unmarried dependent child under age 23 of a service member who:
    • Died while on active duty on or after 9/11.
    • Became disabled while on active duty (qualifying for TSGLI)
    • Received a 100% permanent and total disability rating for DoD or VA
  • Possess a valid Uniformed Services ID Card or DoD Dependent ID
  • Be enrolled in DEERS
  • Be enrolled (or planning to enroll) full-time in an undergraduate degree program or a transfer program at a community/junior college
  • High school applicants: minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (unweighted, 4.0 scale)
  • College applicants: minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
